Dutch News

2 June 2014

After years of research by Dutch universities and companies developed an artificial heart valve that is turned into a real one by the human body itself. The artificial heart valve is made from a synthetic threat ten times smaller than a human hair.

The implant replaces the damaged heart valve and starts attracting cells out of the blood stream. The blood cells are stimulated to create tissue, while at the same time the artificial heart valve disintegrates. At the end of the process a fully working heart valve remains that is restored by the human body.

The Dutch researchers are testing the new invention artificially. It will probably take few years before the inventive self-repairing artificial heart valve will be implanted in a human. The self-repairing formula for tissue, bone and organs is also developed for blood vessels, bone prosthesis’s and kidneys.
