Dutch can overcome world cup trauma’s

Although the Dutch hopes were not very high before the world cup football started, they now play Argentina in the semi-final this coming Wednesday. The tournament can become one of the most amazing scenario’s ever if the Dutch would win the final. In that case they would have won from the previous winner Spain, from opponent Argentina in 1978 and the most sensitive opponent Germany, that won from the talented Dutch in 1974.

In this tournament the Dutch trainer Louis van Gaal plays quite a big role, and for this he gets loads of attention in the foreign press. Until now the trainer was very successful with his strategies and with putting in his substitutes. Saturday night was the most eye-catching substitution, when Van Gaal changed goal keeper Jasper Cilissen for goal keeper Tim Krul just before the deciding penalty series. A decision that turned out to be decisive, because Krul stopped two penalties.
