How the Dutch fight youth unemployment |

Euronews Reporter produces a series of reportages about youth unemployment in Europe. While youth unemployment rates in Greece and Spain hover around 60 percent, the figure in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands is below ten percent. How do the Dutch combat youth unemployment? How do they get young people into the labour market? Caused by the on-going economic crisis also in the Netherland many more youngsters are getting unemployed now. Especially the unemployment figure of Dutch migrant youngsters is rising seriously. While the government and local municipalities are introducing even more spending cuts this year, youngsters and also companies cannot expect much from the authorities. They will have to take action themselves. The Dutch Luckily have a dual system. This approach combining training and practical learning forms the basis of education in the Netherlands.
