Annoyance in Amsterdam centre |
![]() |
In an interview to Dutch newspaper Trouw the Amsterdam ombudsman makes clear that at night the Amsterdam city centre devolves into lawlessness to such an extent that the police can no longer handle it. The Amsterdam police confirmed his findings to the newspaper. After multiple complaints from local residents, especially residents around the Red Light District and Leidseplein, the ombudsman decided to rent a home in the Red Light District to experience the situation for himself. To the newspaper he stated: ‘In the city centre, criminal money is leading at night. The authority is no longer present’. ITV On Assignment wants to give attention to the problems the Amsterdam city centre faces.
Activities: research and set-up.
