The Marengo case |
![]() |
In the largest criminal trial in the Netherlands to date, the focus is on mafia groups that handle drug transactions, torture and murder. One lawyer says they have long since penetrated the infrastructure of the commercial ports. The court in a commercial district in Amsterdam's east is a high-security wing. Defence lawyers, prosecutors and judges have to do their job under police protection. Some of them work anonymously because they receive death threats. Ridouan T. is the centre of attention: the police offered 100,000 euros for tips about him. Until his arrest in Dubai, T. was one of the most wanted people in Europe. With him, 16 people are on trial. The prosecution calls the defendants a "well-oiled killing machine". Video Link!
